TEHRAN – Iranian Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad has said the U.S. government has officially waged a full-fledged economic war against the Islamic Republic in the hope of orchestrating a regime change.

In an article published in the Arman newspaper on Saturday, Baeidinejad said the Trump administration is trying to put pressure on the Islamic Republic by fomenting discord in the Iranian society.

“No doubt should remain that such plan has a media [campaign] attached to it,” he remarked, citing Cambridge Analytica controversy as an example of the importance of social media in manipulating public opinion.
